Tomorrow, Buffalo Kaplinski will be coming down to Manitou to bring several new works in both watercolor and acrylic for our upcoming show featuring him. Buffalo is quite a character and a lot of fun to get to know. Here’s an interesting little tidbit, on his 35 acre ranch in Elizabeth, he raises longhorns! I like to call them Buffalo’s gals and have used them for many of my longhorn paintings. I snagged Buffalo for this special in advance of his fall travel schedule, which starts mid-September with a trip up to the beautiful Maroon Bells outside of Aspen, culminating in his being at the Zion National Park Plein Air Festival where he is one of the artists who will spend a week in the park capturing the raw natural beauty there. Here’s a link for the event http://www.zionpark.org/ArtInvitational2013.php Needless to say, we’re excited to host him here for all of you to meet at the opening which will take place on September 7th from 6-9pm at both my gallery and my neighbor Fare Bella Gallery, who will show his watercolors while I feature the acrylics. There’s a beautiful book that’s been published about Buffalo featuring his artistic journey and highlights of his work that has been painted around the world, titled Passionate Landscape, The Painting Journeys of Buffalo Kaplinski. We hope to have some copies for you to purchase and get them signed by the artist himself!!
