Landfill Art


Not too long ago I was asked to participate in a very unique project called Landfill Art. An Artist Reclamation Project. Over 1,000 artist painting on discarded hubcaps which will then be exhibited around the country and some will be selected for a book. It was a challenge I couldn’t refuse! I received my hubcap in the mail, and it is very cool as you can see. It’s from a 1950’s Pontiac and I decided that no matter what, that pontiac logo has got to stay in the painting. So now , what to paint? I pondered it for a bit, bit I figured with the center part of the hubcap, I would paint a fly (as in the kind of fly trout go for) and then some of my colorful trout swimming around the outside ring. There were a lot of ridges to navigate so that was a bit of a challenge and the fish may not be as perfect as I’d like, but I’m pretty pleased with the outcome. Check them out at
