I’m so excited for this show! I first saw Kearston’s work about a year ago. I was struck by the intensity of the gaze of a bison painting she did. The free flowing brushstrokes that rendered the animal in a not quite realistic portrayal, but in a portrayal of it’s strength and spirit. And then the color palette. Beautifully muted in sepia tones , yet I could see in my own mind, a bevy of other colors surrounding the majestic beast. I knew as I was in the planning stages for this show that I had to ask her to join me and was so delighted when she said yes. I think the play of my bright colors and her more muted ones will present a show that not only is a feast for the eyes, but for the spirit as well. I know both of us have connected with collectors and fans due to our abilitity to capture the “essence” of the subject matter we paint. I hope for my collectors and soon to be ones, that they will find my rendition and Kearston’s of these animals of the African continent to be something they can connect with and will find joy in displaying them on the walls of their homes or work environments. Please join us at the opening reception on Saturday February 22nd at the gallery from 4pm to 7pm.
